Trail Life’s sixth annual Nationwide Campout equipped boys to embrace biblical manhood and Christ-centered leadership

‘This wasn’t just a weekend of camping. It was a return to what boys were made for — hands-on learning, deep relationships and the journey to godly manhood,’ said Trail Life CEO Mark Hancock

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Across the nation, boys and men stepped away from the digital world and into the wilderness for the 2025 Trail Life USA Nationwide Campout. From the forests of Washington to the backwoods of Alabama, thousands of Trailmen traded traffic, screens and schedules for something far more enduring — crackling fires, open skies and the formative power of shared outdoor challenge.

The event, which brought together local Troops in a synchronized celebration of Christ-centered adventure, was so much more than an escape from modern life. Trailmen built catapults, launched slingshots, threw tomahawks, and sang hymns under starlit skies. They split wood instead of swiping screens, climbed peaks rather than scrolling feeds, and forged bonds through shared effort and spiritual growth.

“This wasn’t just a weekend of camping,” said Trail Life CEO Mark Hancock. “It was a return to what boys were made for — hands-on learning, deep relationships and the journey to godly manhood. It was training for life. It was the formation of men. Because boyhood isn’t meant to be sanitized, silenced or stifled. It’s meant to be lived with dirt under fingernails and frogs in pockets. And godly manhood doesn’t just appear — it’s forged in moments like these.”

Throughout the weekend, boys learned to tie knots with weathered rope and calloused hands, cooked meals over open fires and served their communities by gathering supplies for local ministries. But even more powerful than the skills gained were the life lessons passed down from seasoned mentors walking beside them — men committed to modeling wisdom, faith and responsibility.

Trail Life USA, a national Christian outdoor adventure, character and leadership program for boys, continues to grow as families seek meaningful alternatives to the noise and distractions of culture. Weekly Troop gatherings, like this national event, emphasize hands-on discipleship, outdoor skill-building, and biblical manhood in a supportive environment.

Hancock remarked, “This is what raising men the old-fashioned way looks like. Side by side. Hand to hand. Shoulder to shoulder. Boys growing into men, men guiding with wisdom and a brotherhood built not on comfort, but on shared purpose and Christ-centered challenge.”

The 2025 Nationwide Campout served as a vivid reminder that boyhood is not something to be sanitized or stifled — but stewarded with purpose, joy and grit. And the best part? It doesn’t end with one weekend.

Every week, Trail Life Troops across America are helping boys unplug and step into something real: into the wild, into community, and into their calling as godly men.
