AACC’s robust provider network, ‘Christian Care Connect,’ makes mental health care accessible for those in need
‘Taking that first step can be intimidating, but we have done our best to bring Christ-centered healthcare directly to those in need,’ says Dr. Tim Clinton
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Mental health issues are rising all across America, with more than 23.1% of adults experiencing a serious mental health condition on a regular basis. Despite this, 45% of the American population lives in a mental health professional shortage area. Unfortunately, this means that millions of people aren’t receiving the care they need for their mental health issues.
For those looking for the support and expertise found in a healthcare professional, the American Association of Christian Counselors’ (AACC, www.aacc.net) Christian Care Connect (CCC) helps Christians find trusted therapists to aid them on their mental health journey.
“Asking for help can be hard — finding help shouldn’t be,” said AACC President Dr. Tim Clinton. “Mental health journeys are unique, but the strength found within them can be everything. We know that it can be difficult to find the right support for people in need. At Christian Care Connect, our mission is to serve as a beacon of hope and guidance, connecting individuals in need with compassionate, professional caregivers who are ready to provide help and support.”
Christian Care Connect aims to bridge the gap between those seeking help and the caregiver offering it, fostering connections rooted in clinical excellence and faith. CCC offers a Provider Database for Christian counselors, coaches, clinics, churches, treatment centers and support groups for a local region, ensuring those in need can find local professionals who can support them. CCC also provides mental health check-up assessments and self-help blogging resources for those in need.
“Struggling with mental health can be isolating and scary, but there is hope,” said Clinton. “Taking that first step can be intimidating, but we have done our best to bring Christ-centered mental health care directly to those in need.”
AACC’s Christian Care Connect can help Christians find a trusted counselor. For those looking to support others in improving their health, AACC’s Light University allows Christians to earn an online certification and offers continuing education for Christian counseling professionals. Certification programs include Biblical Counseling, Life Coaching, Crisis Response, Marriage and Family, Mental Health Coaching and continuing education.
AACC is committed to encouraging, strengthening, and serving Christian mental health professionals including licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists, marriage and family therapists, addictions counselors, and counselors, as well as Christian life and mental health coaches, pastors, lay counselors and the community at large. In addition, AACC is on a mission to help the church worldwide become more caring and mental health-friendly, as they seek to champion spiritual practices and spirituality within mental health care. AACC also hosts the biennial World Conference and the Mega National Christian Counseling and Coaching Conference to help men and women grow in their faith and counseling journey.
