Casting LGBTQ+ woman as Jesus only shows ‘they don’t know Jesus,’ says Dr. Alex McFarland
This representation of Jesus pushes a ‘radical sexual agenda on the Christian faithful’
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Cynthia Erivo, one of the stars of the recent film adaptation of the musical “Wicked,” is set to play the role of Jesus in the upcoming production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the famed Hollywood Bowl this summer. Despite the self-proclaimed Roman Catholic late-night host Stephen Colbert’s comment that the casting of Erivo — an openly bisexual woman who prefers “they/them” pronouns — is “long overdue,” the majority of the Christian community is outraged at the casting.
“Has Hollywood finally lost its mind?” declared youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland. “Casting an LGBTQ+ woman to portray Jesus Christ through any media only shows they don’t know Jesus; how could they get Jesus right? The audience should save its money and its time for something else. The producers are pushing this highly offensive representation to appease their cult following and push their radical sexual agenda on the Christian faithful. We must stand for the true, historic, glorious story of our resurrected Lord and Savior.”
Alex McFarland Ministries, in partnership with Reasons For Hope, is proud to offer Equip Retreat Camps for families looking for unapologetic Christian camps to educate and inspire today’s young people.
