CBMC says ‘Aloha!’ with Hawai’i expansion

Ministry extends outreach to 1.45 million residents and 9.7 million annual visitors, sharing the Gospel message of an eternal paradise

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) is thrilled to announce its expansion into Hawai’i, adding to its roster of 38 states where the organization operates.

CBMC leaders Jeff Tullis and Steve Garrison passionately desire to have the ministry take root in the Aloha State, which is home to 1.45 million people and visited by 9.7 million more from across the globe in 2024, spending just under $20.7 billion that year. Thus, tourism is one of the top economic sectors in the islands, along with agriculture and military defense installations.

“Hawai’i’s people live in a paradise on earth, and we want to guide as many as possible to the eternal paradise offered through Jesus,” says Joe Beckler, CBMC Vice President, Development, Marketing and Communications. “Expanding CBMC’s work into this wonderful state will help us strengthen men in the workplace to become leaders and share the good news with everyone.”

Garrison, who was introduced to the organization in 1978 and has been mentored by CBMC leader Lorin Griset, is partnering with Tullis to launch the organization in the Paradise of the Pacific, as Hawai’i is also known.

Tullis, who committed to becoming a full-time CBMC Area Leader — and is raising support to undertake that role — says he values the partnership with Garrison.

“We’re co-laboring together, forming an area leadership team and praying about finding volunteer leaders for each island. Right now, we have two Connect3 teams going, one in Kona and one meeting virtually via Zoom. We’re also in the process of starting a Trusted Advisor Forum,” Tullis said.

Garrison said several men he has met through his church join in meeting weekly. They pray for unsaved friends and business associates using the 10 Most Wanted Cards and spend time discussing the 10 Attributes of a Marketplace Ambassador.

“We need to see the value of investing in people’s lives for Christ, being willing to spend the time to be a friend, meeting them where they are, listening and modeling what it means to follow Him. As the saying goes, ‘People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,’” said Garrison.
