Samaritan Ministries launches REDEEM™: ‘The Christian way to do health care’
Will Cooper, Executive Vice President: ‘REDEEM is our response to today’s challenges — giving members more choice, control and connection in their health care’
PEORIA, Ill. — With the cost of health care at an all-time high and more Americans seeking better options, Samaritan Ministries (SMI) is launching REDEEM™ HealthShare Ministry, a new offering giving Christians greater freedom, affordability and prayerful community in their health care. REDEEM HealthShare allows members to directly share medical needs with one another, choose their own doctors and avoid the profit-driven models — all rooted in Biblical principles of bearing one another’s burdens.
“For more than 30 years, Samaritan Ministries has been putting member needs first,” said Will Cooper, Executive Vice President. “REDEEM is our response to today’s challenges — giving members more choice, control and connection in their health care.”
REDEEM’s Christ-centered approach to health care sharing enables members to receive the quality health care of their choice and become part of a community that supports them with prayer and notes of encouragement throughout their health care journey. REDEEM provides flexible, affordable options that honor members’ Christian values and meet their family’s medical needs.
REDEEM HealthShare understands that each family is unique, which is why the ministry offers distinct programs designed to provide access to comprehensive, affordable care tailored to their members:
· REDEEMTM Essential offers affordable care and full support in a caring, faith-filled community.
· REDEEMTM Enhanced offers extensive sharing, ideal for those wanting comprehensive health care.
· REDEEMTM SeniorSaver connects members’ values to their health care and offers significant savings when paired with Medicare Parts A and B.
In addition to REDEEM’s distinct programs, the ministry’s exclusive program add-on, FlexShareTM, a flexible, personalized approach to health care sharing, empowers members to take control of their health with confidence and peace of mind. REDEEMTM Groups offers affordable, customizable health care programs designed to fit your team’s needs and your business’s budget.
“Driven by our purpose to glorify God by growing and equipping disciples of Jesus Christ, REDEEM is on a mission to redeem health care by helping the Body of Christ love one another through sharing each other’s health care burdens while experiencing authentic biblical community,” says Anthony Hopp, chief purpose officer. “As Samaritan Ministries embarks on this next generation of health care sharing, we are eager to see all of the ways God continues to bless our members with a community anchored in His truth.”
Since its founding in 1994, Samaritan Ministries International has helped more than a million Christians enjoy health care freedom by allowing them to choose medical providers and treatments at reasonable cost and without network restrictions while following a biblical pattern of caring for one another’s medical needs.
Accredited by the Healthcare Sharing Accreditation Board, Samaritan has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and serves more than 250,000 members across more than 70,000 households.
REDEEMTM is not health insurance. Government exchange-based health insurance requires signups to occur only during open enrollment periods unless one qualifies for a special enrollment period due to a “life event” such as losing coverage, getting married, moving, or having a baby. In contrast, individuals can sign up with REDEEM at any time. REDEEM members are exempt from insurance coverage mandates and penalties in those states that have them (i.e., California, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C.).
REDEEM HealthShare Ministry offers many advantages, including:
· No network restrictions. REDEEM members have the freedom of choice for their health care provider, hospital, and pharmacy that works best for them.
· The unique direct-sharing approach does more than just help members financially; it also encourages a biblical community based on prayer. Due to member efforts, monthly shares are hundreds of dollars less per month than health insurance premiums.
To understand how health care sharing is not insurance, and to understand the differences from insurance, prospective members are required to review REDEEM’s guidelines before joining.
