Under attack: ‘The Unrestricted War’ is the suppressed movie you MUST see
Latest film from Canadian-Chinese filmmaker Yan Ma reveals the mortal threat to mankind through CCP influence in US entertainment
WASHINGTON — Ever since “The Unrestricted War” was offered to the public, it has come under the kind of attack familiar to those who recognize the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) methods of propaganda, censorship, and surveillance. This suppressed movie is a grave warning to American audiences about life under an all-powerful government that watches and censors what it doesn’t like.
“Just this month, the film’s distributor, Gan Jing World, experienced the CCP’s coordinated online attack, flooded with hate comments from fake accounts,” said Dr. Sherry Yin, the CEO of the first platform offering the movie. “We were alarmed to observe how the CCP’s propaganda, censorship, and surveillance — often through the tech sector — are seeping into the United States. The threat is real. This is why Gan Jing World was established. We stand firmly for free speech without political censorship.
“‘The Unrestricted War’ is not just fiction. It’s happening in real life. Only by understanding the severity of this attack on humanity can the American Way of Life — Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness — be protected.”
The film asks powerful questions: Can a Western top-drawer scientist doing business in China save his Chinese wife and their daughter from the mind-numbing surveillance and control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)? How do you live when you discover those closest to you are under constant pressure to report to the government at the expense of your own family’s welfare? How can a man choose between your best friend and obeying the commands of the CCP?
When the film was first released in Canada, the director and screenwriter Yan Ma encountered disruption again from the Chinese government after the film premiere was cancelled one day before the event. Since the film’s release, it has received countless attacks on IMDb, with people leaving the lowest rating and negative feedback. Before the attacks, the film’s IMDb rating was 8.8. These attacks have been reported to IMDb, which is currently investigating and has removed some of the negative comments.
In addition to director Yan Ma, writer Rob W. King (“The Humanity Bureau,” “Tokyo Trial”) also wrote for the film. The film stars Dylan Bruce (“The Christmas Promise,” “Unstoppable”) and Uni Park (“Tremors”), and was produced by Sophia Sun.
The new film, “The Unrestricted War,” is available to stream now on the GJW+ streaming platform.
