The Tide® ministry announces plans to provide 300 new media players in Pakistan next year
The Tide also offers opportunities for generous donors to assist in providing media players as Christmas gifts for those less fortunate in 2026
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Tide® (www.thetide.org) ministry announces plans to provide at least 300 new media players in Pakistan in 2026 as part of its “Media Players for the Nations” project.
Currently, The Tide ministry is sharing the Gospel in four of the regional languages spoken in Pakistan: Pashto, Punjabi, Saraiki and Sindhi. The programs are shared primarily on major social media platforms. They are also distributed through media devices, ensuring access for those without personal devices or internet connectivity. These small media players have the added benefit of allowing recipients to listen in privacy.
Don Shenk, Director of The Tide ministry, says, “These media players accomplish more than putting a piece of technology in someone’s hands that enables them to hear recorded content in their own language. They carry with them the hope of Christ and the potential to dramatically impact the lives of those who receive them.”
Since its inception, The Tide has maintained a very strong focus on broadcasting the Good News of Jesus Christ and providing people with the means to hear the message. For those who are illiterate, listening to the audio Bibles is their only means of consistently accessing God’s Word.
For almost 80 years, The Tide ministry has been working with local partners around the world to share the Gospel through radio broadcasts in listeners’ indigenous heart languages. The Tide’s partner ministry in Pakistan has been providing media players with both the Bible and the radio program content in all four of the regional languages in which The Tide is producing programs.
“The Tide’s ‘Media Players for the Nations’project began in India and has spread over the years as God opened opportunities in other regions of the world to implement similar projects using various types of media players,” said Shenk. “We have served Zimbabwe, Thailand, Albania and Nepal. Currently, we support teams in India, Pakistan, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan with media players and are continually looking at new fields where they can be used.”
As word spreads from people who have been blessed by The Tide’s media players, other local ministers often approach The Tide for help in providing them with these critical spiritual resources, as evidenced by the following messages from Pakistani ministers:
From Evangelist A.: “Brother, my name is Evangelist A., and I am from Pakistan, and I need audio Bibles in four different languages. We are serving among the Hindu community and people working at the brick kiln. If you have a regular Bible to read, please provide us or provide us with an audio Bible.”
From Evangelist L.: “Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ. My name is L, an evangelist serving in Pakistan. I am reaching out to you upon the kind recommendation of Sister R, who shared with me that you may be able to assist in providing Bibles for our outreach efforts. Here in Pakistan, many people are coming to Christ, especially in remote and unreached areas. However, a major challenge we face is the lack of access to Bibles, especially for new believers and those who are eager to grow in their faith. I humbly request your support in helping us get Bibles into the hands of those who are spiritually hungry but materially limited. Your assistance would be a tremendous blessing for the work God is doing here through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.”
This Christmas Season, people can provide special “Christmas gifts” for The Tide’s listeners around the globe. For more information, click here.
From its humble origins in 1946 as a local Gospel radio broadcast in Chambersburg, PA, The Tide® ministry has grown into a global network of Christian media broadcasting partnerships committed to worldwide evangelism and discipleship. In 2008, The Tide® ministry ended all English-language programming in order to focus on developing and distributing indigenous heart-language content in areas around the world that are less touched by the Gospel. Today, The Tide® ministry works with partners in multiple countries across three continents to broadcast Gospel-centered messages via radio, satellite TV and other media. In order to make disciples and plant churches, The Tide® ministry also provides resources for literature distribution, correspondence courses, discipleship and leadership training activities, and the distribution of radios and media players.
