FCA’s 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer recaptured spiritual devotion and discipleship

Fellowship of Christian Athletes inspired intentional prayer worldwide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org), one of the premier Christ-focused sports ministries in the world, was founded with the desire to see every coach and athlete begin a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. A key component of that desire is the dedication to meaningful prayer, both individually and as a team. From February 12-13, FCA facilitated their annual 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer, a 24-hour global prayer chain designed to reinvigorate coaches’ and athletes’ spiritual walk and inspire a heart for unceasing prayer.

FCA EVP of International Advancement, Hannah Kao, said, “24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer is a global event where FCA intentionally sets aside 24 hours to pray for and with our international sports ministry partners. We pray purposefully from a local to global perspective. Prayer is an essential and powerful tool as we partner together to fulfill the mission and vision God has for FCA.”

Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:17, where the apostle Paul instructs believers to “pray without ceasing,” FCA’s 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer began in 2018. The Mid-Atlantic Region of the U.S. spearheaded this initiative, creating a continuous prayer movement dedicated to East Asia.

Lindsay Kravtsova, International Divisional Director of Advancement, shared, “During this year’s 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer, the North Global office and team were so deeply moved that we have committed to hosting ongoing virtual prayer calls for our division. We’ve already scheduled our next gathering for mid-April, continuing the momentum of unity and prayer.”

“This is our second year offering an hour devoted to those in the deaf community, with a prayer host who is able to offer the prayer time to be completely in ASL,” said Erin Hamson, Assistant RDIA for the Mid-Atlantic Region. “Next year, we would like to perhaps offer this hour to have a more global focus and invite others from across the other US regions in the deaf community to join.”

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Its mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA’s guiding values are integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence.

Since 1954, FCA has used the powerful medium of sports and building relationships to reach the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same so that lives are changed for current and future generations.
