Socialism gains ground as Truth & Liberty calls for renewed commitment to freedom
Richard Harris urges Americans to reaffirm free enterprise and faith amid shifting public opinion
WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — More and more Americans express an openness to socialism today, but Truth & Liberty Foundation urges a renewed commitment to the nation’s founding principles of free enterprise and faith in God.
A recent Fox News poll found 38% of voters believe it would be a good thing for the United States to move away from capitalism and toward socialism, up from 32% in 2022 and 18% in 2010. The poll also shows voters are nearly evenly split on whether capitalism is working.
“Socialism is gaining traction because many Americans, especially Millennials, have been taught to reject absolute truth and moral foundations,” Truth & Liberty Executive Director Richard Harris said. “When truth becomes relative, it is only a short step to rejecting private property and embracing systems that promise equality through state control.”
Harris warned that such thinking undermines the principles that have historically driven American prosperity and freedom.
“Until recently, America was the beacon of freedom to the world. America has been the most generous and benevolent nation in the world,” Harris said. “Because of our free enterprise system and faith in God, we were the land of opportunity.
“The media, political leaders, schools and even churches must take immediate action to stop promoting ideas that erode freedom and instead reinforce the principles that made America strong.”
Truth & Liberty points to research showing a declining biblical worldview in the United States as a contributing factor to shifting attitudes about economic systems and governance.
Harris emphasized that restoring a foundation grounded in faith and individual responsibility is essential for preserving the nation’s future.
“America’s strength has always come from its commitment to freedom under God, not government control,” Harris said. “If that foundation is lost, the consequences will be profound.”
Truth & Liberty Foundation, headquartered in Woodland Park, Colorado, educates, unifies and mobilizes believers in Jesus Christ to affect the reformation of nations through the seven mountains of cultural influence. Truth & Liberty stands for preserving America’s constitutional republic of government from the consent of the governed through democratically elected representatives to guarantee to each citizen their Creator-given rights.
Founded by Andrew Wommack and other Christian leaders, Truth & Liberty engages in various initiatives to educate, encourage, train and connect believers to stand for Truth in the public square. The foundation’s activities include television and web-based broadcasts, meetings and events, articles, blogs, media engagement, civic mobilization, creating and connecting people to resources, and working to unify and foster strategic collaboration.
The heart of Truth & Liberty is to mobilize the church to engage with biblical truth. Often finding that churches and pastors don’t know where to start, the foundation’s goal is to educate their audience and connect them with resources and organizations nationwide to help them impact their own spheres of influence.
The “Truth & Liberty Show,” hosted by Executive Director Richard Harris, explores meaningful conversations with pastors, thought leaders and influencers who are making a real difference in the public square. The show premieres every Wednesday and Friday at 6 p.m. MT with recurring contributors and guest hosts.
