Child Evangelism Fellowship® cultivates a biblical worldview in children
Dr. Faith Dugan of CEF®: ‘Teaching children a biblical worldview is vital to establishing truth-based principles and equipping them to navigate a secular culture’
ST. LOUIS — Recent studies highlight a spiritual shift among the country’s youngest generation. According to the latest American Worldview Inventory from Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center, only a fraction of Americans hold Bible-based beliefs, including just 1% of Gen Z. Other research reveals that 65% of teens and young adults believe many religions can lead to eternal life, while a majority of Gen Z say they prefer to create their own truth rather than accept absolute moral standards.
Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®) is committed to reversing this trend by cultivating a biblical worldview in today’s children and youth through sharing the Gospel, discipling them in God’s Word, and establishing them in a Bible-believing church.
“A person with a biblical worldview would recognize God as the One with ultimate authority, complete knowledge, and perfect trustworthiness. But our secular culture discourages children from finding the answers to these questions in God and His Word. Reversing the downward trend of having a biblical worldview in the current generation first requires carefully and clearly teaching the foundational truths of the Gospel,” shared Dr. Faith Dugan, CMI Online Director/Leadership Training Instructor.
CEF accomplishes this mission around the world through a diverse array of dynamic programs and content. Central to CEF outreach efforts is the Good News Club®, an ongoing weekly program for children ages 5-12 that features an engaging Bible lesson, meaningful songs, key memory verses and fun, interactive games. CEF also offers the 5-Day Club®, a short-term, summer program that emphasizes Gospel lessons and local community connections. Both programs share the same core mission of introducing children to biblical truth.
According to Dr. Dugan, “Teaching children a biblical worldview is vital to establishing bible centered principles, providing a firm foundation for life and equipping them to navigate a secular culture.”
CEF also hosts Party Clubs for children in their community. A Party Club offers a variety of one-time outreach opportunities, often around holiday celebrations, where they can celebrate the season while guiding children to the Savior.
Through curriculum and training, CEF provides all the tools needed to equip believers to share the Gospel effectively with children. The ministry’s Christian Youth In Action® (CYIA™) program for teens offers one to two-week intensive training that equips these young people to share the Gospel clearly at a child’s level, counsel children for salvation and lead engaging, fun, and active ministries. After training, CYIA leaders return to their communities to teach 5-Day Clubs, VBS programs and camps.
In addition, the CEF “Children Reaching Children” initiative equips older children to share the Gospel with their peers. Through “Go and Tell!”, CEF has seen how God can work through children and teens to effectively communicate His message of salvation.
“God put it in the heart of 13-year-old Elijah, a young man who had faithfully attended Good News Club and completed a five-week ‘Go and Tell!’ training, to begin a Bible club at his middle school. Elijah went on to lead seven of his peers through a study of the book of Romans,” shared Dr. Dugan. “We need to recognize the God-given potential within teens and children and encourage them to embrace Jesus’ command to go and tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
Taken altogether, CEF’s efforts are delivering a robust response to a generation desperately in need of a strong foundation built on God’s word.
Dr. Dugan concluded, “With 3,600 staff and hundreds of thousands of volunteers worldwide, we are well on the way to our long-term goal of sharing the Good News of the Gospel with 100 million children per year.”
Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), founded in 1937, has been establishing the Good News Club® and other club ministries in countries around the world for decades.
In 2024, more than 31 million children worldwide heard or read the Good News through CEF ministries.
