Pro-life groups urge Senate to enact ban on Planned Parenthood funding

‘Financial Issues’ host Mark Minnella: ‘This is one of those moments where Congress needs to stop hiding behind budget language and simply tell the truth’

PHILADELPHIA — A coalition of pro-life groups is demanding that the Senate take necessary action to establish a decade-long ban on government funding for Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics. The current prohibition on federal taxpayer funding for abortion providers, signed by President Trump as part of last year’s budget bill, is set to expire on July 4. In a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the pro-life leaders write that continuing the ban is critical to urgent fiscal responsibility, noting that the “financial stakes are significant” and a 10-year extension “would represent one of the most meaningful pro-taxpayer reforms Congress can enact.”

In support of the extension to ban federal funding for abortion providers, Mark Minnella, host of Financial Issues” (FISM), is urging the Senate to act now in acknowledgement of the nation’s biblical morality.

This is one of those moments where Congress needs to stop hiding behind budget language and simply tell the truth: taxpayers should not be forced to fund an organization whose central identity is tied to the destruction of unborn life,” said Minnella. “If those who support abortion want to give their own money to Planned Parenthood, that is between them and their conscience, but forcing pro-life Americans to subsidize it through their paychecks is wrong. How would they feel if billions of tax dollars were taken from their paychecks and sent to compassionate, life-affirming organizations like PreBorn! that work to save babies and support mothers? Women in crisis deserve love, support, medical care and real help, but that help should never require ending the life of a child made in the image of God. The Senate should act because life is sacred, taxpayers have a conscience, and a nation that asks God to bless it must stop using public money to fund what grieves Him.”

Through free ultrasounds, PreBorn! helps mothers meet their babies, as well as provides supplies every new mother needs, coming alongside moms with compassion, truth, grace, prayer and real-world assistance at a moment when she may need it most.
