AFA Action CEO says more states should follow suit with TN in declaring June as ‘Nuclear Family Month’
‘At a time when government, corporations and activist groups are relentlessly pushing ideologies that blur marriage, gender and parenthood, Tennessee chose to affirm the nuclear family as the foundation of a healthy society’
TUPELO, Miss. — Declaring June 2026 as “Nuclear Family Month,” Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed House Joint Resolution 182 to honor “God’s perfect design” for families. This resolution replaces “Pride Month” in recognition of the nuclear family structure and opposes the harmful ideologies of organizations that “fight for population control through the means of promoting sterilization and abortion practices.”
According to House Sponsor, Rep. Bud Hulsey, the definition of the nuclear family is “one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children.”
For the rest of the nation, Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the governmental affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, is urging states to adopt this resolution and defend America’s foundations in the wake of its 250th anniversary.
“Tennessee made a deliberate decision to recognize June as ‘Nuclear Family Month’ instead of simply falling in line with Pride Month messaging,” said Wildmon. “At a time when government, corporations and activist groups are relentlessly pushing ideologies that blur marriage, gender and parenthood, Tennessee chose to affirm the nuclear family — one father, one mother and children — as the foundation of a healthy society. This is a clear statement that families built on stability and responsibility are still worth defending. In a culture determined to redefine the family, Tennessee stood firm on God’s design, and more states should have the courage to do the same.”
