Amidst snap election uncertainty, The Tide® shares Christ in Kosovo through strategic programming
‘The future may be uncertain, but we can have faith in the God who never abandons or betrays us,’ says Don Shenk
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Kosovo, a nation renowned for its rich history, cultural diversity and breathtaking landscapes, is facing unprecedented political upheaval as it faces its third snap election since February 2025. Despite efforts to restore some balance in Kosovo’s political scene, Prime Minister Albin Kurti was unable to reach a consensus with opposition parties on a joint candidate for the presidency. The failure to secure a president in this time frame is hindering both reforms demanded by the European Union and the EU-brokered dialogue with Serbia.
In the face of this growing unrest, The Tide® (www.thetide.org) ministry brings the hope and peace that only the Gospel of Christ offers. For the past eight decades, The Tide has worked with local ministries to lead as many people as possible into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, primarily through Christian media broadcasts in multiple languages around the world. What makes The Tide unique is the dedication to creating carefully curated content that is culturally relevant to the listeners, not just a translation of English programming.
“For those who are surrounded by the confusion and doubt an unfinished election can bring, our broadcasts offer peace and stability,” said Don Shenk, executive director of The Tide. “In the midst of political tensions, The Tide remains committed to supporting local pastors and empowering them to reach spiritually hungry hearts with the unchanging message of Jesus Christ.”
Many people in Kosovo are desperate to hear the Good News but have limited access. Over 90% of the 2 million people living in Kosovo are Albanian, and Albanian is used as the official language. In 2015, The Tide ministry began partnering with indigenous pastors in Kosovo to produce and air evangelistic Albanian language radio programs. There has been a good response and already several new churches have been planted as listeners in different communities respond to these gospel broadcasts.
In the town of Gjakova, a newly completed church building represents a major milestone after years of vision and effort, according to the local pastor. “This building, beloved by God, is not simply the home of the Rilindja Church, but a Center of Action and Hope for every citizen of Kosovo,” commented The Tide staff on site. “This church is standing today as a beacon of hope for Gjakova, a reminder that light always triumphs over darkness.”
Additionally, the ministry in nearby Klina advances steadily, holding services multiple times weekly and expanding into two new villages with hundreds of children eagerly participating in learning and engagement. Future plans focus on literacy classes to reintegrate school dropouts and homeschool support to assist families in educating their children at home.
“The future may be uncertain, but we can have faith in the God who never abandons or betrays us,” concluded Shenk. “It’s our privilege to touch hearts and lives for the good of the Kingdom, and we plan to continue doing so until the Lord calls His children home.”

From its humble origins in 1946 as a local Gospel radio broadcast in Chambersburg, PA, The Tide® ministry has grown into a global network of Christian media broadcasting partnerships committed to worldwide evangelism and discipleship. In 2008, The Tide ministry ended all English-language programming in order to focus on developing and distributing indigenous heart-language content in areas around the world that are less touched by the Gospel. Today, The Tide ministry works with partners in multiple countries across three continents to broadcast Gospel-centered messages via radio, satellite TV and other media. In order to make disciples and plant churches, The Tide ministry also provides resources for literature distribution, correspondence courses, discipleship and leadership training activities, and the distribution of radios and media players.
