Meguiar: Influence that lasts forever points people to Jesus
Seven-day devotional from IgniteAmerica challenges believers to make eternal impact through everyday faith
PHOENIX — IgniteAmerica Founder and President Barry Meguiar today urged believers to view influence through an eternal lens rather than a cultural one as research shows fewer Americans practicing their faith — and fewer Christians sharing theirs.
Recent data shows practicing Christians have declined significantly during the past quarter-century, while only about one-third of Christians strongly feel a responsibility to share their faith. Meguiar believes those trends reveal a growing need for Christians to rediscover their purpose.
To help address that challenge, IgniteAmerica highlights “Living God’s Purpose for Your Life,” a free seven-day devotional designed to equip believers to move everyone, every day, closer to Jesus. The devotional walks readers through practical daily applications of biblical faith, including shining Christ’s light, sharing personal testimony, speaking with grace, displaying faith openly, following the Holy Spirit’s leading, walking in love and intentionally influencing others for Christ.
“Whatever you’re doing today, none of it matters for eternity. The only thing you’re doing today that will matter for eternity is how many people you are moving closer to Jesus,” Meguiar said.
The devotional reflects lessons Meguiar says transformed both his personal life and business career. In 1973, while helping expand the Meguiar’s consumer car-care brand, he and his wife made a deliberate commitment to share their faith more openly. The experience reshaped his understanding of success and purpose.
Since making that commitment, Meguiar has spent decades encouraging Christians to integrate faith into every area of life. He frequently teaches that business, family relationships and daily encounters should not be separated from a believer’s spiritual calling.
“It’s acting like it’s two lives,” Meguiar said. “How do you reconcile these two lives, folks? You don’t have two lives. You have one life. In fact, we have one purpose: to seek and save the lost. That’s God’s purpose. He came to seek and save the lost.”
Each day of the devotional includes Scripture, reflection and a practical “Igniter” challenge. Readers are encouraged to bless strangers, engage in meaningful conversations, extend grace to difficult relationships, wear visible expressions of faith and respond to opportunities to encourage others.
Meguiar said the devotional’s goal is not simply to increase knowledge but to inspire action that helps others encounter Jesus through ordinary interactions.
“Every Christian already has influence,” Meguiar noted. “The question is whether we are using that influence for something temporary or something eternal. God has uniquely positioned every believer to help move someone one step closer to Jesus today.”
Meguiar said believers often underestimate the impact of small acts of obedience and kindness.
“God made us for heaven. He didn’t make us for earth,” Meguiar said. “He didn’t make me to sell car wax, or whatever you’re doing apart from leading people to Jesus; he didn’t make you for that. He made you for heaven. And once you become a Christian, you join with him to get as many people into heaven as possible.”
The devotional concludes by encouraging Christians to maintain a daily focus on loving people, following God’s direction and viewing every encounter as an opportunity to point someone toward Christ.
