There was cash for clunkers; now China has cash for Christians

Dr. Alex McFarland: ‘To stand with our brothers and sisters under the boot heel of the Chinese Communist Party, we must be strong in our own Christian heritage

GREENSBORO, N.C. Chinese Communist authorities are paying people to inform on Christians who don’t conform to party dictates, according to Bitter Winter, a human rights publication with correspondents in China.

Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureaus in multiple regions are offering cash rewards from the equivalent of $14 to $140 for turning someone in and up to $1,400 for “identifying key overseas figures and clarifying their domestic networks,” states Bitter Winter.

“To stand with our brothers and sisters under the boot heel of the Chinese Communist Party, we must be strong in our own Christian heritage,” said youth, culture, and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland. “As we celebrate the birth of our nation 250 years ago, we need to give thanks to God for His blessings, including the Bill of Rights with its right to worship in the manner of our choosing.

“The First Amendment famously established freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly, and to petition the government. Many of the Framers who voted to ratify the Constitution did so only after agreeing that the Bill of Rights, including the First Amendment, would be soon added. Some worried about a strong federal government with far-reaching powers. Their concern is well demonstrated by the Chinese Communist Party’s interest in controlling religion to the point of paying citizens to inform on Christians. The chief author of the First Amendment, James Madison, would have recognized what is going on today in China as further support for our Bill of Rights.

“We should take a close look at the Declaration’s guidance concerning unalienable rights endowed by our Creator — ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’ The Declaration signers were clear about the origin of our human rights. Not only were they clear that they had a Creator, but they were clear that He was the source of natural law. Today, Chinese Christians know those same things, but they cannot freely exercise their faith without fear of the government and citizen spies.”

Alex McFarland Ministries newly launched Revive US events reignite the faith for Christians, introduce it to others, and impart knowledge with eternal consequences to everyone. Each event equips attendees to confidently answer critical questions, including: Should our Christian faith guide government and our daily lives? According to McFarland, “The Founders knew the answer. Do we today? The Chinese government certainly knows the answer, and they are pushing against it with all they have.”
