Barry Meguiar: Sharing your faith remains one of America’s greatest liberties
As research shows that millions would attend church if invited, IgniteAmerica equips believers to confidently start those conversations
PHOENIX — Recent research showing that 80% of non-churchgoers would attend church if invited is prompting IgniteAmerica Founder and President Barry Meguiar to encourage Christians to exercise what he calls one of the nation’s greatest liberties: tell others about Jesus.
According to the research, non-churchgoers show strong openness to attend church, but nearly half of Christians said they had not invited anyone to church in recent months despite widespread receptiveness.
Meguiar said believers in the United States enjoy freedoms unavailable to many Christians around the world and should use those freedoms to share their faith openly and intentionally.
“Religious freedom is one of the greatest blessings Americans enjoy, and we should never take it for granted,” shared Meguiar. “Millions of believers around the world cannot openly share their faith, but we can. We should use that freedom with gratitude and purpose by inviting others to experience the hope found in Jesus Christ.”
To help Christians take practical steps, IgniteAmerica recently released “Ignite Your Day: A 30-Day Faith Sharing Challenge,” a free, downloadable resource designed to encourage believers to share their faith through simple, everyday actions. The e-book explains that Christians do not need “a stage or a sermon to share your faith,” but instead need “an open heart and a willingness to say yes to God’s nudges.”
The challenge includes daily prompts intended to help participants “move everyone you encounter closer to Jesus” and encourages readers to “be intentional,” “start anywhere” and “let God lead.”
The resource also highlights Matthew 5:16, which says, “Let your light shine before others.” The first 10 days include actions such as praying for a mail carrier, asking a restaurant server how to pray for them and inviting someone to church or Bible study.
“Many Americans are far more open to spiritual conversations than Christians realize,” Meguiar noted. “Sharing our faith does not require extraordinary gifts. It starts with ordinary acts of kindness, intentional conversations and a willingness to invite someone to take one step closer to Jesus.”
IgniteAmerica also offers free materials from its Seeking God platform — a resource for those asking questions about faith — including packs of SeekingGod.org Cards, which direct users to online articles, videos and biblical teaching designed to guide seekers toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The ministry describes the cards as tools intended to help every faith-sharing conversation become an opportunity for salvation.
On an earlier episode of the “Ignite With Barry Meguiar” podcast, Meguiar and Pacific Justice Institute founder Brad Dacus discussed the importance of defending religious liberty and boldly sharing faith.
“It’s freedom we get to celebrate God’s love to us and flowing through us,” Meguiar said.
