Dr. Alex McFarland celebrates Christian women with eternal influence in their communities
‘As America celebrates its 250th birthday, let us remember the women of faith who shaped the nation, and those who continue to be pillars in their Christian communities’
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Throughout the history of the Christian Church, women have played a vital role in developing and nurturing faith both in the home and in their communities, with faithful dedication, leadership and service leaving a profound impact that continues today. For a nation built on Christian ideologies, such as America, the influence of strong women of faith cannot be overemphasized.
Youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland proudly celebrated Christian visionaries Peggy Davis and Kimberly Hand of Myrtle Beach, SC, at the recent Conversations that Matter event. In 2020, Davis and Hand founded the interdenominational women’s ministry, Grand Strand LIFE Myrtle Beach. Since its founding, the program has grown steadily in events and attendance and is now gaining national recognition. The special appeal of the ministry brings women together from the region for fellowship, spiritual growth and support.
“My experiences traveling the country for speaking, media and teaching events give me the opportunity to see wide-ranging efforts to pull together in-person, social and spiritual groups having positive impacts on the lives of those who join,” commented McFarland. “Grand Strand LIFE Myrtle Beach, founded by Peggy Davis and Kimberly Hand, is as strong of an example of this important work as I have seen anywhere nationally. This outstanding ministry brings women together to build genuine relationships, learn about the Christian faith, and share life’s winding path.”
Grand Strand LIFE Myrtle Beach promotes its vision and ministry to continually strive for a deeper relationship with God and each other by practicing the tenets of LIFE, which the ministry defines as Loving, Inspiring, Forgiving, and Encouraging women. Regular meetings feature different national and international speakers, often published authors. Growth has been organic, with women inviting other women to attend.
“We started Grand Strand LIFE Myrtle Beach to bring women together in faith, encouraging deeper relationships with God and one another through love, sympathy, kindness and humility,” explained Davis and Hand.
“This organization is a beautiful example of how faith can be the foundation for a community that has the potential to impact generations,” said McFarland. “As America celebrates its 250th birthday, let us remember the women of faith who shaped the nation, and those who continue to be pillars in their Christian communities.”
