Child Evangelism Fellowship® honors the faithful workers who share the Gospel around the world
In more than 190 countries, CEF® labors alongside local believers to reach children in places where ministry is often difficult or dangerous
ST. LOUIS — As Americans observe Labor Day by honoring the contributions of workers, Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®) is highlighting the faithful work of those who bring the Gospel to children around the world.
This mission extends across more than 190 countries, where CEF serves and partners with local believers to share the message of Jesus Christ with children in age-appropriate and culturally sensitive ways.
“Labor Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the value of faithful work,” said Fred Pry, CEF vice president of administration. “Every day, thousands of men and women carry out that work for the sake of the Gospel.”
This work often takes different forms depending on the barriers in each region. In Europe, growing secularism has left some Christians discouraged and searching for fresh ways to share the hope of Jesus. In the Middle East, war and persecution have affected ministry in some countries. In West and Central Africa, Islamic insurgencies make travel dangerous and put ministry workers at risk.
Those challenges exist within a larger global tension. Christianity is growing rapidly in some parts of the world, particularly in regions where the Gospel is being embraced by younger generations.
“At the same time,” noted Pry, “millions of people still live in places where the Gospel has not yet been widely shared, and where Christianity is illegal or effectively banned, making it dangerous and difficult to share the Good News.”
CEF is responding to these diverse dynamics through a range of ministry “highways,” each designed to reach children in different settings and circumstances. Its primary in-person ministries include Good News Club®, a weekly program conducted in schools, churches and community spaces; 5-Day Club®, a week-long event held during school breaks; and Christmas Party Club®, the ministry’slargest outreach and part of a broader Party Club™ model that includes Easter and other singular seasonal events.
Other ministries equip children and young people to share their faith and grow spiritually. Children Reaching Children® trains children ages 8–15 through the Go and Tell! program to share the Gospel with their peers, an approach CEF says can be especially valuable where adult evangelism is dangerous or restricted. Junior Youth Challenge® focuses on discipleship for young teens, helping ages 11–15 understand and apply biblical truth, develop relationships with other believers and prepare for continued Christian service.
CEF also extends its ministry through digital platforms and printed materials. Through U-Nite®, children can access Bible-centered video and audio content online or by download, while CEF Global Literature ministry distributes materials in many languages around the world. CEF describes those printed resources as “paper missionaries” because they can enter homes, schools and distant places that workers themselves may not be able to reach easily.
Regardless of the route, CEF says the destination remains the same: bringing children to Jesus Christ so He can transform their lives and change their destiny.
“The labor of the Gospel ministry is rarely one-size-fits-all, and it is never confined to one season,” Pry said. “Sometimes the work happens in a classroom or a home. Sometimes it travels through a screen, a printed page or one child speaking to another. What matters is continuing to find faithful ways to put the Good News within a child’s reach.”
Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®), founded in 1937, has been establishing the Good News Club® ministries in countries around the world for decades.
In 2025, more than 34 million children worldwide were impacted by the Good News through CEF ministries.
