Fitness influencer helps Save the Storks launch new mobile medical clinic
Since 2019, an online fitness community has helped fund three Stork Buses named for babies whose mothers chose life; a fourth, Ella Grace, will soon be serving women in San Diego, CA
PLANO, Texas — Save the Storks, a national nonprofit that partners with pregnancy health clinics to operate a growing network of mobile medical clinics (Stork Buses), announced that an online fitness community has again dedicated annual donations to help expand its fleet, marking the seventh year of the partnership.
Since 2019, Ashley Keller (GlowBodyPT), an online fitness trainer and influencer, has designated three days of proceeds from her annual workout program launch to fund Save the Storks’ work. This year’s fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 28-30.
The donations help fund mobile medical clinics that provide ultrasounds, medical care and support at no cost to women, with the goal of helping them make informed decisions about their pregnancies while also opening the door for conversations about faith. Save the Storks said the partnership has already helped name three Stork Buses — Olivia, Noah and Ashley — after babies connected to the GlowBodyPT community whose mothers chose to continue their pregnancies. A fourth bus, Ella Grace, is now in development and recently received approval to operate in San Diego, near a Planned Parenthood location.
“Every one of these mobile medical clinics represents a mother who chose life and a community that refused to let her walk through it alone,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks. “Partnerships like the one we have with GlowBodyPT allow us to reach women with medical care and practical support at no cost to them, and we pray, with the hope found in the Gospel.”
The Ella Grace clinic is named for a baby girl whose mother considered ending her pregnancy before deciding at the last moment to continue it, Save the Storks said. A local church group began supporting the mother with baby supplies and later gathered at the hospital, where Ella Grace died minutes after a preterm delivery. The mother is now married and is raising her three living children, according to Save the Storks.
The other mobile medical clinics carry similar stories, the organization said. The Ashley clinic, which serves eastern Tennessee, is named for a member of the GlowBodyPT community. The Noah clinic, serving San Antonio, Texas, is named for the son of a mother in Italy who considered ending her pregnancy after facing disapproval from family members over an unplanned third child. She felt compelled to continue the pregnancy after a historic flood struck her hometown, naming her son in reference to the biblical account of Noah, according to Save the Storks. The Olivia clinic, serving Downey, California, is named for a baby girl who received a fatal prenatal diagnosis; her mother chose to continue the pregnancy despite medical pressure to end it, and the baby died shortly after birth.
Ferraro said Save the Storks continues to count on partnerships like this one to expand its reach to women who feel they lack the support or resources to welcome a child, and to fund the daily operating costs of its mobile medical clinics across the country.
“Ella Grace’s story reminds us that even in loss, God can bring redemption,” Ferraro said. “We are grateful for GlowBodyPT and her community for standing with women in unexpected pregnancies year after year, and we look forward to seeing this next mobile clinic serve families near San Diego.”
