Apex Media Partners: YouTube, streaming growth opens new frontiers for ministry outreach

Media firm urges ministries and nonprofits to meet audiences across connected devices as video consumption and platform partnerships accelerate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — YouTube’s expanding global audience and new alliances with major streaming companies are creating significant opportunities for ministries and nonprofits to reach viewers with faith-based programming, according to Apex Media Partners.

More than 2.5 billion people use YouTube monthly, while viewers watch more than 1 billion hours of video each day, according to Kolsquare’s 2026 YouTube statistics report. YouTube generated more than $60 billion in 2025 revenue, exceeding Netflix’s annual revenue.

The shift is also reshaping relationships between major media companies and digital platforms. NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a multiyear global strategic partnership July 27 that will bring Peacock Premium to millions of existing and future YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States beginning in early 2027.

The agreement also expands Universal+ and Hayu internationally, extends NBCUniversal’s distribution on YouTube TV and deepens cooperation in advertising, technology and sports production.

Apex Media Partners says ministries that treat streaming as an extension of their mission can reach audiences beyond the limits of broadcast schedules. Content can now move across smartphones, tablets, computers and connected televisions while remaining available whenever viewers choose to watch.

“The biggest mistake ministries can make right now is assuming their audience will keep finding them through the same channels they used five or 10 years ago. YouTube and streaming have changed viewing habits, and ministries need a distribution strategy that meets people on the screens they already use while giving dependable faith-based programming a consistent place in their lives,” said Doug Bognar, vice president of sales, new business, Apex Media Partners.

Apex Media Partners works with ministries and nonprofits on television, streaming, radio and omnichannel distribution. The company says free streaming services can offer ministries a particular advantage because recurring programs can build habitual viewing without depending solely on algorithmic discovery.

Apex Media’s work with In Touch+ illustrates that approach. The company recently expanded access to In Touch+ programming across Central Florida through WACX SuperChannel 55, bringing programs featuring the late Dr. Charles Stanley to the Orlando-Daytona Beach market. Apex Media Partners also broadened international access to In Touch+ through Eutelsat’s HOTBIRD satellites, bringing programs to audiences in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. This expansion makes In Touch+ available to more than 57 million direct-to-home households served by the satellite system.

“The media landscape is not waiting for organizations to catch up. Ministries and nonprofits that adapt now can build stronger, more durable connections with audiences across platforms and borders. Our role is to help them turn excellent content into a coordinated distribution strategy that expands reach, strengthens engagement and produces measurable results,” said Carrie Hartunian, CEO of Apex Media Partners.
