iVoterGuide urges Christians to get off the sideline — faith is on the ballot this November

64% of voters claim that a trusted voter guide would make the difference for election season, says new iVoterGuide-Barna study
WASHINGTON — With the midterm elections just a week away, the pressure is on for Americans to make their voices heard on the ballot. However, research shows that every voting year, fewer Americans vote in the midterm election than in the presidential race that preceded it. So, what is needed to get Americans back at the polls and exercise their civic duty? Information, according to iVoterGuide (iVoterGuide.com), President Debbie Wuthnow.
iVoterGuide is the nation’s premier Christian voting guide, offering carefully researched voter guides that outline every single candidate on the ballot to ensure educated voters at the polls.
“So many Americans don’t realize the power their individual votes hold,” said Wuthnow. “iVoterGuide recently partnered with Dr. George Barna to learn exactly what the majority of citizens believe about their role in the voting process, and the results were shocking. We found that one in six Americans think their votes don’t matter, resulting in many not voting all the way down the ballot or simply refraining from voting altogether. If we want to see positive, consistent change in this nation, we cannot allow this to happen. Our research with Dr. Barna also revealed that 46% of Americans claim that lack of information is the number one reason they skip down-ballot races. An educated American is an informed voter.”
Barna’s research with iVoterGuide uncovered the importance of faith and family for the majority of Christian voters. Parental rights and protecting children are a top priority in candidate support, according to the report, and in regard to judicial candidates, voters clearly prefer judges whose worldview is conservative and biblical over judges whose worldview is liberal and secular. Sixty-four percent of voters said access to a trusted, accurate and unbiased source of down-ballot candidates’ information would make them more likely to vote down-ballot, making iVoterGuide the logical answer.
“It’s more important than ever before that Christians make informed votes on every single race on the ballot,” said Wuthnow. “My prayer is that the findings in this report not only inform our readers on what all the candidates believe, but inspire them to let their voices be heard across the ballot.”
iVoterGuide is uniquely positioned to fill the information gap voters are seeking. iVoterGuide builds in-depth, values-based research on thousands of candidates — not just the ones on the evening news, but a growing number of school board, city council, and county races that rarely get a single headline. Every candidate is presented with the same detailed questionnaire on the issues that matter most to Christian voters: life, family, religious liberty, education and the role of government. These answers are then tallied and presented as comprehensive voter guides, providing an invaluable look into where each candidate stands before voters step into the booth.
For those unsure of which candidates have earned their vote, iVoterGuide.com, a division of AFA Action, provides accurate, up-to-date information on thousands of candidates. iVoterGuide.com’s research and ratings can be extremely valuable in helping voters determine the distinctions between candidates.
iVoterGuide.com is dedicated to equipping Americans to be informed, educated voters and is a one-stop resource for candidate ratings and election information. iVoterGuide.com is known for its accuracy and integrity in researching and evaluating candidates and equipping Christians to vote wisely and be good stewards of their citizenship.
Hosted by iVoterGuide President Debbie Wuthnow and Rick Beggs, “The Compass” is iVoterGuide’s weekly conversation about the issues shaping the public square — produced in partnership with American Family Radio. Each episode unpacks what’s at stake for voters of faith and where biblical principles meet the news of the week.
