FCA joins YouVersion in lighting up Times Square with Scripture for Global Bible Month
Nov. 1 display puts God’s Word in the spotlight while highlighting a partnership bringing Scripture to coaches and athletes around the world
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One of the world’s most recognizable public spaces put the spotlight on the world’s most-read book Sunday night to kick off Global Bible Month.
On Nov. 1, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) was featured alongside YouVersion in Times Square from 8–9 p.m. ET, with approximately 30 other ministry partners and leaders. The event celebrated the Bible and encouraged people to engage with Scripture every day in November.
For FCA, the display reflected a ministry priority that reaches far beyond the iconic landmark: putting God’s Word into the hands and daily lives of coaches and athletes.
“A moment like this in Times Square can capture people’s attention, but our hope is that it leads them to something lasting: opening God’s Word and allowing it to shape their lives,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “Throughout Global Bible Month, we want coaches, athletes and people everywhere to discover the truth of Scripture, grow in it and carry it into the relationships and communities God has given them.”
Global Bible Month brings ministries, organizations and others together each November to celebrate the Bible and encourage consistent engagement with Scripture. As part of the month, YouVersion is inviting people to take its 30-Day Bible Challenge by engaging with Scripture in the Bible App for 30 consecutive days through Bible Plans, Guided Scripture, Guided Prayer and time in God’s Word. Participants who complete the challenge earn a special Global Bible Month badge.
For YouVersion, the vision for this moment took shape during a milestone year. In 2025, as the ministry approached 1 billion installs across its Family of Apps, leaders saw an opportunity to spark a global conversation about the Bible and its enduring influence. This November, YouVersion hopes to build on that momentum.
The Times Square feature highlighted a partnership that combines YouVersion’s digital reach with FCA’s ministry to coaches and athletes. FCA creates Bible Plans tailored to the sports community that can be used individually or incorporated into Huddles and other small-group ministry.
FCA’s global reach made it a natural fit for the Times Square feature. FCA contributes Bible content that serves audiences beyond the United States, including resources created for challenging ministry environments such as Ukraine.
“FCA has walked alongside athletes and coaches for generations. We’re honored to help carry that encouragement into people’s daily lives through the Bible App, and we’re excited to see what God does as more people open His Word together,” said YouVersion Founder and CEO Bobby Gruenewald.
That vision continues this November as ministries, organizations and global brands rally around Scripture, encouraging people to make Bible engagement a consistent part of their lives.
“The Bible has always been at the heart of FCA’s ministry because lasting transformation begins with God’s Word,” said FCA Chief Strategy Officer Jeff Martin. “Whether Scripture is opened in a Huddle, read in a locker room or shared between a coach and an athlete, it gives people truth they can carry into competition and every part of life. Seeing that message displayed in Times Square was a powerful reminder that God’s Word belongs in every arena.”
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Its mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA’s guiding values are integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence.
Since 1954, FCA has used the powerful medium of sports and building relationships to reach the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same so that lives are changed for current and future generations.
