Save the Storks plans more Mobile Medical Clinics after midterms

CEO Diane Ferraro says nonprofit will work with state and local partners to bring free pregnancy services and follow-up support closer to women

PLANO, Texas — Save the Storks said today it will place more Mobile Medical Clinics across the country and work with state and local partners to expand services for women facing unplanned pregnancies. The national nonprofit revealed its plans after Tuesday’s midterm elections, saying its response will focus on access to care in underserved communities.

The nonpartisan nonprofit said it has been meeting with government officials and developing partnerships with groups that offer local pregnancy services. It plans to work with both parties and with local pregnancy resource centers that can help women find continued support after a clinic visit.

“No woman should ever feel abortion is her only choice. Every woman should have access to free ultrasounds, to compassionate, caring medical professionals,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks.

The Mobile Medical Clinics bring services such as free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds to women who may have difficulty traveling to an appointment. The nonprofit plans to expand its reach to more women in both rural and urban communities. Local pregnancy resource centers can connect women with services in their communities, and the nonprofit’s online resource hub, ForEveryWoman.org, helps women find care and practical assistance.

The organization’s recent work in Tennessee illustrates how the plan operates at the local level. Save the Storks delivered its 110th Mobile Medical Clinic this fall to Choices Resource Center in Oak Ridge. The center serves people from 20 surrounding counties and will use the clinic to reach women who face transportation barriers. The unit takes services beyond the center’s offices.

Save the Storks said it will continue to carry out the expansion at the state level. The organization said its life-affirming maternal health mission centers on giving women the medical care and practical support they need to continue a pregnancy. Its plans pair care during pregnancy with connections to resources that can help mothers and their children after birth.

“God is on the throne, and our resolve is stronger than ever. We invite you to join us in praying for our nation’s leaders and for every woman who comes to us for care. Every life is precious. We want to make abortion unthinkable by making sure women know where they can turn for help,” Ferraro said.

The nonprofit invites supporters to help put more Mobile Medical Clinics on the road. Women seeking pregnancy services and other local resources can visit ForEveryWoman.org. Information about the Mobile Medical Clinics and how to support the expansion is available at SaveTheStorks.org.
