American Family Association: Avoid Target on Cyber Monday Too

Black Friday shopping is now complete for 2018, but many will still be looking for deals during today’s Cyber Monday sales, when Americans are expected to spend upwards of $7 billion on online purchases.

But even though shoppers may never set foot into a Target restroom or fitting room on Cyber Monday, the American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.netcontinues to urge shoppers to #BoycottTarget. And families who are choosing to shop elsewhere are making a difference. Last week, ahead of the shopping surge, Target stock plummeted 12 percent after “disappointing earnings.” Today, the stock opened at 68.07, down significantly from prices in the 80s earlier this month.

“Clicking through purchases may seem ‘safer’ than entering stores with dangerous bathroom policies, but shopping online still drives revenue to Target,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “It’s clear that families who have chosen to shop elsewhere—both in-store and online—are making a huge difference.

“Target can be a scary place,” he added. “Incident after incident proves that, and yet Target refuses to make a change that would keep women and children safe, even after frightening experiences for shoppers. It’s never too late to join 1.5 million other concerned citizens and sign AFA’s #BoycottTarget pledge. We must band together and vow not to shop at Target for the upcoming Christmas gift-giving season.”
