Study shows that majority of Americans believe that Easter’s moral lessons are important to ‘ensuring a strong America for future generations’

TUPELO, Miss. — American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) joins Christians the world over in celebrating the risen Lord Jesus Christ this Easter. A recent survey revealed that more than two-thirds of Americans say the “moral lessons found in the holidays of Easter and Passover” are vital to “ensuring a strong America for future generations.”
One researcher commented, “These are some of the fundamental values taught to us through our Judeo-Christian heritage. This is the foundation of all that is exceptional about the United States of America.”
In response to this encouraging statistic, AFA Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano explained why Christians place such an emphasis on the Easter holiday.
“The resurrection of the Son of God is the pivotal event of human history,” said Vitagliano. “Through God’s triumph over death and spiritual darkness, humanity has the hope of everlasting life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Those who know Him may shout for joy; those who do not may enter the kingdom of heaven through faith in the Savior. That is why Christians all over the world rejoice on the weekend that celebrates the raising of Jesus from the dead.”
Christians believe that Christ, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, is the fulfillment of the Passover. The first Passover occurred when the Israelites sacrificed an unblemished lamb before the tenth plague God visited on the Egyptians immediately before the Israelite Exodus from Egypt.
