American Family Association Calls for Prayer for the President; 11,000+ Have Committed to Pray Daily

As the Nation Seems to Be Unraveling in Hatred, AFA Offers Prayer as a Solution for the Chaos, Anger and Division in Washington

TUPELO, Miss.—Like many patriotic Americans, leaders at American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) are saddened by the chaos, anger and division in Washington as well as outraged by the secular Left’s unending assaults against the founding principles of the republic.

Therefore, in a new Action Alert to its nearly 1 million friends and supporters, AFA is calling for a solution to some of the nation’s problems by turning to the only solution—God.

“Many in the media have become deceivers and backbiters because they no longer report truth based on facts,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “Liberal journalists and news anchors are no longer trustworthy because they are nothing more than mouthpieces for ‘fake news’ outlets.”

Wildmon said he agrees with the Rev. Franklin Graham, who recently said: “Our nation seems to be unraveling in hatred. There are forces out to destroy our country and the freedoms we all love. I hope everyone reading this will stop and take a minute to pray for this country, for our leaders, and especially for our president.”

“This is a critical time for America,” Wildmon continued. “We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask the Lord to protect, strengthen, encourage and guide our nation and our president. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God. We know that God hears and answers prayer. He can soften hearts and change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of nations. The Bible instructs us to pray for those in authority, ‘that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:2–3, NKJV).

To this end, AFA is asking patriotic and godly citizens to join the pro-family organization to pray daily for America and President Donald Trump. Thus far, more than 11,000 have vowed to pray every day for the nation.

“I believe that our prayers are the most effective means of stopping the malicious cancer of hatred now spreading across our nation,” Wildmon added.

Specifically, AFA is suggesting several ways the faithful can help put America back on the path to God’s plan:

1. JOIN AFA in daily prayer, and ask as many people as possible to pray
2. SIGN the AFA petition to President Trump, and pledge to pray daily for him and the nation. The petition reads:

   “It is sad to see the ugliness coming from elected officials in Washington. It is a shame that adults are unrestrained in their disrespect for public office, common decency and one another. Count on me to pray for our nation and President Trump. May hearts turn to God, that He may forgive our sins and heal our land.”

3. URGE local churches and pastorsto begin a special prayer emphasis for the president and the nation.
