Dan Celia: As Unemployment Sits at 23%, Remember, This Is About a Health Crisis

April 24, 2020

PHILADELPHIA—Nationally syndicated host and biblical investing authority Dan Celia said today that even while many are struggling with unemployment and decreased income, Americans must remember that the current state of affairs is a health crisis, not a financial crisis.

“With the recent jobless numbers, it looks like the unemployment rate will be somewhere around 23%,” Celia said, “and I think that’s probably about right. I had indicated after the last jobless numbers that we were likely sitting at about 18%, and now many are saying the unemployment rate—the real jobless picture—looks like it’s about 23% after 4.4 million people filed for first-time unemployment last week. These are pretty scary numbers. The economic data just continues to get worse, but this isn’t about the economic data. Obviously, the economic data will get worse as the economy is shut down. But keep in mind that this was not an economic event. It wasn’t anywhere near any kind of financial crisis or housing crisis, however the Left wants to frame it.

“Thank God that our economy was as strong as it was when this national health crisis hit America,” Celia added. “What is happening now is all about the coronavirus. I saw a recent headline that ‘the economy drops on job numbers.’ The economy is dropping because of the coronavirus. We have to keep that in mind, because virtually every headline coming out of mainstream media is trying to change the way we are thinking about and looking at this. Don’t let it happen to you or the people around you. This is about a national health crisis.”

Celia discusses these and other global and economic headlines on his daily, three-hour Financial Issues program, heard on more than 660 radio stations and several television networks nationwide, including FISM.TV, viewed on several post-cable television platforms and online.
