PHILADELPHIA—Nationally syndicated host and biblical investing authority Dan Celia discussed the record-breaking numbers from the past week, as well as looked into the potential for inflation looking ahead.
“As we finished out last week, we had pretty good economic data,” Celia stated. “We had about a hundred thousand more jobs. Non-farm payroll jobs increased more than what was anticipated. We had 943,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate went down to 5.4%. Hourly earnings also increased from a 10th of 1% to four tenths of 1%, which is almost a half of a 1%. And all of that is very good news.
Celia continued, “As we saw the markets at record highs on Friday this week, there’s a lot of economic data coming out. Most important is coming on Tuesday when we look at the National Federation of Independent Business small business index for the month of July. It’s sitting at 1020.5, a very good number. We also get the second quarter productivity number, and it will be interesting to see how well that comes in.
“Currently, we’re sitting at 5.4%. If it stays there, we’ll be in pretty good shape moving forward, considering consumer price and index core CPI numbers, which are coming out on Wednesday. These are inflation numbers, numbers that we’ll have to watch very, very closely. We’ll see if we get any reaction at all by the Federal Reserve Chair, based on what these numbers might say. It’s going to be interesting to see if they continue to move up. I believe we’re already in that trajectory, and this could solidify that.”
Celia discusses these and other global and economic headlines on his daily, three-hour “Financial Issues” program, heard on more than 660 radio stations and several television networks nationwide, including FISM.TV, viewed on several post-cable television platforms and online.
