‘Our panelists are biblically minded citizens who desire to help voters determine which candidates will stand up for issues they care about most’

February 7, 2022

TUPELO, Miss. — With primary elections starting for some states as early as March 2022, many voters find themselves wondering where to find accurate, up-to-date information regarding candidates. The solution is iVoterGuide (ivoterguide.com), the premier Christian voting guide designed to inform and educate voters on the stances and history of thousands of candidates on the ballot in all fifty states.

In order to accurately evaluate and rate the political philosophies of thousands of candidates, iVoterGuide utilizes the work of hundreds of trained, vetted volunteer panelists. These panelists are a key component to producing a reliable, helpful voting guide. With their help, the voter guides provide information that indicates the way a candidate will likely govern if elected.

Debbie Wuthnow, president of iVoterGuide, stated, “Our staff is currently compiling voting records, contribution records, endorsements, links to candidate websites, and answers candidates provide to our questionnaire. However, we rely on our great volunteers to go one step beyond our research and assign an evaluation to each candidate based on the conservative to liberal spectrum.”

The goal of panelists is to review all the research and synthesize the data into an easily understandable descriptive label. The label (called a “rating”) relays the confidence level the panelists have on whether a candidate will vote conservatively or liberally if elected. After individually reviewing the data and assigning a rating to each candidate, panelists meet online in groups of three to five to compare evaluations and arrive at a consensus for the final rating of each candidate.

Ratings are not an endorsement of a candidate by iVoterGuide; they are simply a reflection of the panel’s evaluation of a candidate’s political philosophy and are particularly helpful to voters who do not have time to look at the detailed information iVoterGuide collects on each candidate.

Wuthnow commented, “Our panelists are biblically minded citizens who desire to help voters determine which candidates will stand up for the issues they care about most. Panelists can be anyone from parents, grandparents, students—anyone who has a passion for helping us inform and educate voters on the stances of candidates.”

iVoterGuide is dedicated to equipping Americans to be informed, educated voters. In 2020 alone, iVoterGuide covered federal elections in all 50 states as well as statewide and legislative races in 21 states, researched over 8,000 candidates, and educated over 3.5 million voters across the country.

iVoterGuide is a one-stop resource for candidate ratings and election information.  A division of American Family Association (AFA) Action, it is known today for its accuracy and integrity in researching and evaluating candidates on the ballot and equipping Christians to vote wisely and be good stewards of their citizenship.

In 2022, iVoterGuide’s expert researchers will give an in-depth analysis—and overall rating—from a Christian and conservative perspective for 12,000+ candidates nationwide. Additionally, iVoterGuide offers election dates, registration deadlines, polling locations, and other information needed to help Americans vote wisely and identify candidates on the ballot who share their values. Related tools are also available to inform family, neighbors, and business associates about getting their own personalized ballots. iVoterGuide is helping to restore the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and traditional American values.
