TUPELO, Miss. — Christian conservatives across America were surprised when the promised “red wave” during the 2022 midterm elections didn’t come as expected. Despite initial disappointments, Republicans did see some key victories in many races, and even secured the majority in the House of Representatives.

“And we shifted attention towards down-ballot races, giving voters valuable information on these less-publicized races which paved the way for more champions of family and freedom to be elected at the state and local level.”

Wuthnow continued, “But our work is not done yet. We still have steps to take to keep the fight for biblical principles alive. We must hold the candidates we just elected accountable to their promises. There is no margin for error. With such a narrow majority in the House, we cannot allow our conservative congressmen and women to compromise and bow the knee to the radical woke mob.

Wuthnow said, “We can combat the damage done by these disappointments only if we have leaders at the local level who will take action — but we must begin work now. School board elections start this spring in numerous states, as well as county judge, state legislature, and other state and local races.

“We must stand firm for our biblical values because they win. The most encouraging lesson we learned from the 2022 midterms is that unabashedly pro-life, pro-family, pro-faith candidates can win. We saw it happen in one race after another. On the other hand, candidates who were not strong on these issues, who compromised or played both sides… lost. This truth must be broadcast loud and clear to every candidate running for office over the next two years. Standing for life, for liberty, and for family values is a winning message, despite what the media says.

 “The voters will reward candidates who stick to their principles, and that’s a blueprint we can turn into big wins for conservatives next year. But the voters can only reward the right candidates… if they know who the right candidates are.
