iVG Delivering Significant Candidate Research of Texas CD-6 Special Election

April 5, 2021

DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Texas — DFW area voters residing within the 6th Congressional District have the opportunity to participate in the Special Election that will determine who represents them in the U.S. Congress.

iVoterGuide provides up-to-the minute, deeply researched facts and statistics to ensure that DFW area voters can make educated decisions on voting day. TheTexas CD-6 Special Electionis being conducted due to the death ofRepublican Congressman Ron Wright in February. The district includes the central, southern and southeastern portion (IH-35 and IH-45 corridors) of the DFW metroplex.

Governor Greg Abbott called for the May 1, 2021 Special Election to fill the CD-6 seat.

There are 23 candidates who filed to run, including Ron Wright’s widow. The diverse candidate demographics also cover the political spectrum, from liberal Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians to conservative Independents and Republicans, including a minority female attorney and a male chief of staff who both served in the Trump administration.

iVoterGuide evaluated all 23 candidates and assigned a political philosophy rating based on multiple data sets, including campaign contributions, endorsements, candidate website and social media, information from other sources, candidate responses to iVoterGuide’s questionnaire, and party affiliation.

“The contest could be considered a continuing battle between far left, big government ideologies, and those on the conservative spectrum holding to a more limited government, personal responsibility worldview,” said Debbie Wuthnow, president of iVoterGuide.”

“Given the changing demographics of the district, this election becomes a toss-up and could be a proxy vote for the 2022 mid-term Congressional elections. In the interim, it will determine whether Democrats widen their slim Congressional majority, whether Republicans are able maintain the status quo, or whether the Libertarian and Independent candidates are able to make inroads.”
