After iVoterGuide’s 30,000 Hours of Analysis into 7,500+ Candidates This Year, Comprehensive Research on Behalf of All Americans Shows Stark Differences in Candidates’ Beliefs and Backgrounds

October 27, 2020

CINCINNATI, Ohio — While millions of Americans have voted early already—either at polling sites or by mail—millions more are in need of valuable insights into the candidates running for key congressional districts. Before they cast their ballots, these voters should review iVoterGuide’s deep dive into the tight race in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, given that significant policy differences exist among the candidates.

“As the rhetoric heats up in the last days before the election, iVoterGuide’s data provides voters a clear picture of the political agendas of the candidates in the race for Ohio’s CD-1, cutting through the campaign ads with in-depth research on what Steve Chabot, Kate Schroder, and thousands of other candidates have done to earn this authority over our lives,” says iVoterGuide president Debbie Wuthnow.

Two major candidates are battling for the seat in Ohio’s CD-1 held by incumbent Steve Chabot (R), a conservative congressman and lifelong Cincinnatian who is seeking reelection. An outspoken defender of the rights of the unborn, Chabot authored the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 (H.R. 760), which is today the law of the land; for these reasons, he’s been a prime target of the left. For 40+ years, Chabot has been involved in the Pro-Life Movement as a volunteer. The experienced congressman is endorsed by the Cincinnati Right to Life PAC, Family Research Council PAC, FreedomWorks for America, Club for Growth, and many others.

Chabot is very supportive of the policies of President Donald J. Trump. Contributors to Chabot’s 2020 campaign include the Buckeye Patriot PAC, Club for Growth, House Conservatives Fund, WinRed, and more.

By contrast, liberal candidate Kate Schroder (D), a health care advocate, is a political newcomer who is endorsed by former Vice President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, Emily’s List, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Vote Pro Choice, New Dem Action Fund, and others. Schroder juxtaposes STEM opportunities for young women with pro-choice reproductive freedom. Contributors to her campaign include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Democratic Women’s Groups, NARAL, the New Democratic Coalition, Sierra Club, and more.

A third candidate seeking a House seat in Ohio’s CD-1 is libertarian Kevin Kahn, who prioritizes reducing the federal debt. He describes himself as an entrepreneur, a business owner, and an internationalist.

The 2020 Ohio iVoterGuide provides Ohioans with key insights into the major candidates, including website and social media links, plus responses (or non-responses) to the iVoterGuide survey.

“As Ohioans head to vote early in person, we at iVoterGuide encourage all voters to take a close look at the extensive candidate information on iVoterGuide.com, especially data on the candidates for Ohio’s Congressional District 1,” said Wuthnow.

Importantly, a “who’s who” list of endorsers reveals a dramatic contrast of worldviews and perspectives on the role of government, especially when it comes to valuing and protecting human life at all stages. Select donation data from high-profile individuals and entities are key indicators of potential influence or control over the candidates on these issues—as well as likely legislative leanings, should the candidate be successful.

While neither Chabot nor Schroder responded to specific survey questions posed by iVoterGuide, the fiercely fought race in Ohio’s District 1 is very much a proxy battle between Trump and Biden.

“Voters are in the midst of the most important election of our lifetime,” says Wuthnow. “iVoterGuide shows how candidates can be expected to use their power.” Adds Wuthnow, “What candidates say is one thing—what they actually do is another. iVoterGuide looks not only at the candidates’ words, but also at how they have used power entrusted to them by the citizens.”

iVoterGuide has invested 30,000 hours of research into comprehensive data, candidate positions, donations, background, and more in order to help Americans make the most informed decisions possible at the polls. iVoterGuide has also completed voter guides for all 50 states. iVoterGuide delivers facts to Americans about candidates seeking election—and the turnout for Ohio’s District 1 clash may significantly impact other down-ballot races.

Ohioans are using iVoterGuide to determine, among other key points, which candidates have defended the United States Constitution and the principles of life, liberty and freedom to exercise personal responsibility.

Many Americans are increasingly recognizing the value of the information within iVoterGuide before casting their ballots. One user even remarked, “I just found out about iVoterGuide.com.
