National Association of Christian Financial Consultants Presents the 2020 Integrity Award

NACFC Awards Dexter Lyons, Issachar Fund Founder and Portfolio Manager

December 30, 2020

ORLANDO, Fla. —National Association of Christian Financial Consultants (NACFC), (www.nacfc.org), recently presented Dexter Lyons, Issachar Fund Founder and Portfolio Manager with the NACFC Integrity Award.

“It is with great honor that I receive the 2020 NACFC Integrity Award,” exclaimed Lyons. “All glory to My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has humbled, taught and led me on His path through His amazing grace, unconditional love, mercy, and truths!”

The Integrity Award was established to recognize Christians whose actions and convictions have honored God in the process of promoting Biblical Investment Stewardship. Recipients have demonstrated Biblical Integrity in their personal and professional life during both good and difficult times. They have contributed selflessly and sacrificially to the illumination of God’s word on Investment Stewardship.

“Dexter Lyons was chosen for the immediate way he responded when God revealed the truth regarding managing money and claiming Christ as his Savior, as well as his service, leadership, and dedication to promoting and living the principles of Biblical Investment Stewardship since that moment,” said Mark Minnella, NACFC co-founder, and author of “The Wall Street Awakening.”

Lyons tried to start his career as a stock broker but was rejected when he applied. “It is ironic that my honesty actually caused me to miss out on the first stockbroker job that I applied for.  The written personality test revealed that I would not be a good fit for the commission business.”

It seemed that God had a better plan and blessed Lyons with a successful 25-year business managing individual accounts for a fee. His business partner led him to Christ in 2000 and his life was forever changed. In 2014, God ended that partnership only to open doors that would continue to grow Lyons’ faith. One day his pastor shared that Lyons had the “Gift of Understanding,” and believed God was leading him to open a mutual fund to be called “The Issachar Fund.” The Sons of Issachar were known for their understanding of the times (in 1 Chronicles 12:32). LIONX was launched in 2014 with $5M to honor Jesus as the Lion of Judah.

For the next 5 years, the growth of the fund and its performance did not meet Lyons’ expectations. All that changed in 2019 when he was introduced to Mark Minnella at a conference they both were attending. Minnella asked Lyons, “As a believer, why wasn’t his fund a Biblically Responsible Fund?”

As Lyons pondered that question he realized that God answered by changing his heart and by June of 2019, LIONX was converted to holding only investments that were 100% in alignment with Biblically Responsible Investments. Since that time Lyons says, “I honored God and He has blessed the Issachar Fund with over $44 million in AUM today.”

The mission of the National Association of Christian Financial Consultants is to teach, train and encourage financial professionals to learn, share and instruct biblical stewardship to individuals and families believing that “it profits a man nothing to gain the whole world and lose his soul” (Matthew 16:26). Members will glorify God by impacting their world for Jesus Christ through teaching and practicing biblical stewardship.
