NYC Pastor Carter Conlon Planning Nov. 18 Book Signing for ‘It’s Time to Pray’
New Book by Times Square Church Pastor Also Offers Accompanying Six-Day Devotional Reading Plan on YouVersion
NEW YORK—New York City pastor Carter Conlon, who leads Times Square Church in Manhattan, an interdenominational congregation with over 10,000 people in attendance who represent 100 different nationalities, is planning a live signing event for his new book, “It’s Time to Pray.”
Released Nov. 6 by GPC Books, an imprint of Times Square Church’s partnership with Charisma House, “It’s Time to Pray” is a powerful teaching on the power of prayer, compellingly illustrated by Conlon’s own life experiences, most of which he is sharing for the first time in the book.
On Nov. 18, Conlon will join with his church and radio listening community for a book signing beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET in the Education Annex, 2nd floor, of Times Square Church, 1657 Broadway (between 51st and 52nd street) in the Theater District of Manhattan. Net profits to the author from “It’s Time to Pray” will be designated to the Carter Conlon Compassion Fund.
“Just as Esther was prodded by Mordecai to approach the throne of the king for the sake of her people, I’m hoping that this book is going to prod many people to go back to the throne of God to find, as the Scriptures say, grace and strength to help in this present time of need,” Conlon said. “I believe that the lives of many people are now hanging in the balance, spiritually speaking, and if we will start to pray again, as the people of God, we can know a spiritual awakening again in America. It really is a very short window the Lord has set before us.”
The focus of “It’s Time to Pray” originated from a Sunday evening message at Times Square Church, Conlon added.
“On June 8, 2003, the Lord gave me a message of hope for a society that is at best confused, powerless, judgmental and without faith in God—the message from the Gospel of Mark 9:14–29,” Conlon remembered. “Afterward, I was approached by many in our church on just how the Lord used this biblical passage and how it encouraged them both in their walk and in how to have a lasting impact in their homes, neighborhoods, communities and state.
“Almost 15 years have passed since I delivered that particular message to my church,” he continued. “But that one message turned into a mission to encourage believers at large about the need for and the power of prayer. And from that one message a regional and then national radio ministry called ‘It’s Time to Pray’ was born. Now that specific sermon has given birth to a larger message, which is contained in this book. I have thought for quite some time about the passage in Mark 9—I’ve looked at it, studied it and read it over and over. The Lord has expanded that original message to show me just how impacting prayer can be in every area of both our personal lives and our community life.”

Conlon joined the pastoral staff of Times Square Church in 1994 at the invitation of founding pastor David Wilkerson who launched Teen Challenge and wrote the best-selling book, “Cross and the Switchblade.” Conlon was appointed senior pastor of Times Square Church in 2001.
