Southern Evangelical Seminary President Dr. Richard Land: If China Had Done Its Civilized Duty, World May Have Been Spared from Death and Suffering

April 27, 2020

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—A new Hong Kong study has found that China’s COVID-19 cases may be four times more than what officials reported. China reported 55,000 cases by late February, but the true number is likely to be more than 232,000 people.

Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES, www.ses.edu) President and Evangelical leader Dr. Richard Land says the evidence is overwhelming that the communist Chinese government is clearly to blame for the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

“As a result of subpar safety practices in the Wuhan research facility, this virus escaped into the general population,” Land said. “The Chinese government then immediately went into coverup mode, including the silencing of researchers who sought to warn the world. These actions allowed the COVID-19 virus to spread around the world without warning, camouflaged by deliberately false information. If the Chinese had done their civilized duty and warned the world community immediately, over 90% of the deaths and suffering the world has experienced would never have happened. The communist Chinese government has the blood of the world on its hands.”

Land explores topics like these in his daily radio feature, “Bringing Every Thought Captive,” as well as in his weekly column for The Christian Post, where he serves as executive editor. In May, he is teaching a one-week livestreaming Ethics class at SES, where students will consider how God gets people’s attention, how ethics are biblically based and much more. SES has announced its 2020 National Conference on Christian Apologetics (NCCA), set for Oct. 16-17 in Charlotte. The seminary will focus on the theme of “Hold Fast” for the 27th annual conference by welcoming some of the nation’s top apologetics speakers. The early bird deadline for tickets is Aug. 1, and SES is offering a free apologetics Bible to early ticketholders.
