Times Square Mega-Church Pastor Carter Conlon Welcomes People from Over 160 Countries to Weekly Worldwide Prayer Meetings
Tuesday Nights Are Dedicated to Prayer, as Conlon Writes in His New Book ‘It’s Time to Pray’—Prayer Changes Everything
NEW YORK—Years ago, it was common for churches to have the doors open for Sunday morning and Sunday evening services, plus a midweek prayer meeting.
Those midweek services seem to have gone by the wayside or dwindled at many churches, but that’s not the case at all at Times Square Church in New York City.
In fact, the church pastored by Carter Conlon, author of the new book, “It’s Time to Pray,”
Welcomes people from around the world, who send in their prayer requests and petition God in a time of powerful prayer. The weekly prayer meetings happen each Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
“Our prayer meeting can be streamed live on the internet, and people are joining us from over 160 countries around the world,” Conlon said. “They are submitting prayer requests, and God has been answering theses prayers and cries in a profound way. We thank God for these wonderful praise reports. Especially this Thanksgiving, we all must be encouraged to remember that it’s time to pray.”
Some of the comments from those who have been a part of the incredible prayer time include the following:
- “You prayed me through. I am now working, attending church and drug-free for almost a month!”—Christopher, Alaska
- “Following your prayers, I was able to walk away from my addiction. Early days, but I know walking with Jesus can keep me free. Amen.”—Kevin, Birmingham, Great Britain
“Prayer is the foundation of our relationship with the Lord—it is our communication line with the almighty Creator, the One who brought us into the world and who has a divine plan and purpose for us on this earth,” Conlon writes in “It’s Time to Pray.” “Prayer opens our hearts to the work of God in our lives. It becomes the air that we breathe—it sustains us, prepares us, and enlarges our understanding of who God is and who we are in Him. When you ‘pray without ceasing’ (1 Thess. 5:17), you are strengthened in the Spirit and realize that nothing is impossible with God.”
Times Square Church in Manhattan welcomes an interdenominational congregation with over 10,000 people in attendance who represent 100 different nationalities, along with 875 home satellite fellowships worldwide.
Released Nov. 6 by GPC Books, an imprint of Times Square Church’s partnership with Charisma House, “It’s Time to Pray” is a powerful teaching on the power of prayer, compellingly illustrated by Conlon’s own life experiences, most of which he is sharing for the first time in the book.
Conlon joined the pastoral staff of Times Square Church in 1994 at the invitation of founding pastor David Wilkerson who launched Teen Challenge and wrote the best-selling book, “Cross and the Switchblade.” Conlon was appointed senior pastor of Times Square Church in 2001.
Conlon continues to be a voice for God far beyond the pulpit of Times Square Church by speaking at numerous conferences across the country and around the world. His weekly radio spots air on 1010 WINS, the nation’s longest-running all-news station, and his one-minute devotional and 30-minute program, called “A Call to the Nation,” are currently syndicated on over 350 Christian radio stations worldwide. He is the author of several books, including “The 180 Degree Christian,” “Fear Not” and “Unshakable.”
