Denver— Youth For Christ (YFC, www.yfc.net) has beena staple in the missional ministry community in America for 77 years. YFC’s Parent Life ministry seeks to connect with expectant and parenting teens and their children through intentional relationships with caring adults and community partnerships. The aim is to empower teens to thrive in every aspect of life and to encourage them to further their education and move toward becoming life-long followers of Jesus Christ. YFC facilitates life-giving mentoring relationships by supporting young parents in their pivotal moments and inspiring them by uncovering God’s story of hope in their lives.
Denver Area YFC (DAYFC), one of 130 YFC chapters across the country, continues to reach expectant and parenting teens through its community efforts. Meg Kuka, DAYFC site director of Parent Life, stated, “Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, we have been limited in our gatherings with students, so small groups starting back up has been much anticipated. It has been awesome to again see students interacting with faithful adults on a weekly basis.”
Most recently, Kuka had a conversation with a teen momabout the Bible. When the young mother asked about a specific story from the Bible, Kuka was able to lovingly explain the story and offer her a Bible for free. This act of kindness laid the groundwork for a more meaningful, impactful relationship, pointing many young parents back to the love of Christ.
Kuka commented, “This is what our ministry is all about! It is very exciting to know that through small groups and our God-led adults, there was one child who became interested in the Word. It was a beautiful moment that showed the desire for meaningful relationships — and a relationship with Christ.”
Ken Allen, DAYFC Executive Director, stated, “We are committed to being ambassadors of peace, trust, confidence, security, and most importantly, hope in an ever-changing world. We remain secure in the Lord and his everlasting peace — on mission and always about the message of Jesus.”
YFC chapters impact thousands of communities across the nation, seeking out and serving youth from all walks of life. Young people are silently struggling through a wide variety of challenging issues—and through the YFC ministry God empowers, they see the living power of a loving God. YFC trains its leaders in a proven, relational ministry model called 3Story®, which encourages staff and volunteers to be good news while also sharing the stories of the Good News of Jesus. It involves building relationships through the ups and downs of everyday life to lead people to Christ.
YFC has been a pillar of missional ministry since 1944, when the Rev. Billy Graham served as YFC’s first full-time staff member. Since then, Youth For Christ has continued to be both a rural and urban ministry on mission, and it is always about the message of Jesus. YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement. Youth For Christ operates in over 100 nations and has over 130 chapters that impact communities across America.
