Bhutan Leader Calls UN to Moments of Silence; The Tide® Ministry Continues to Reach Bhutan with Life-Changing Gospel Radio Programming

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—At the recent United Nations gathering, many leaders aimed to be heard. But one world leader called for silence.

Bhutan Prime Minister Lyonchoen Tshering Tobgay paused for three periods of silence during his speech at the UN, reported Fox News, for those experiencing the ravages of recent hurricanes, impacted by poverty and fighting terrorism.

The Tide® ( global radio ministry broadcasts Gospel programming in Bhutan and is also concerned for those affected by these forces.

“It was inspiring to see a world leader call on his peers to observe three moments of silence for those suffering around the globe,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “This simple action spoke volumes and allowed people to grow in unity. The power of reflection can leave us in awe, yet it leads us closer to God and His plan for the world He created.

“The Tide ministry is blessed to be able to provide Gospel radio programming in Bhutan, produced in local languages so listeners can strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ and live in His love and saving grace,” Shenk added. “We continue to pray for the people of Bhutan and in other countries where The Tide ministry reaches God’s people.”

Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting gospel radio programming—in the languages people were born to speak.
