WHAT WE DO

We believe that every student needs to hear the Gospel, to be connected to a local church, and to gain a vision for serving Jesus Christ in the world.

GOSPEL

The CCO places staff people on college and university campuses to unsettle students who have settled for less. We spend countless hours on campus, build relationships with students, listen to their doubts, and offer them new life in Christ. We meet students where they live and walk with them, introducing them to the person of Jesus Christ and sharing His Good News in the context of their everyday lives.

  • We study the Scriptures with students and show them how to lead Bible studies with others.

  • We equip students to share their faith and to invite others into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • We are committed to transforming a generation, student by student.

CHURCH

Since 1971, the CCO has been working closely with churches, reaching out to college students and inviting them to participate in the lives of local congregations. We have found that the most effective way to do this is by partnering with churches that share a like-minded commitment to college ministry.

Together, we develop a shared vision for reaching students, design a ministry strategy, and choose a CCO staff person who will serve as the congregation’s full-time representative to campus.

As a result:

  • The church is engaged in active mission to the campus and to the world.

  • College students who connect to CCO ministries find themselves integrated into the life of the church. They worship in a multi-generational congregation, participate in Sunday school classes, and get to know church members over meals.

  • College students trained by a CCO ministry are equipped to be life-long church members and leaders. They participate on the worship team, serve as greeters and ushers, and volunteer in the children’s ministry. They learn what it means to be a part of the larger body of Christ.

VISION

In all of our interactions with college students, we encourage them to dream bigger dreams of how they can serve Jesus Christ in the world.

We help students embody their faith today on campus, and we invite them to imagine how they will serve Jesus after they graduate—in their communities, churches, families, and workplaces

  • Jubilee conference: More than 70,000 college students have attended our annual Jubilee conference since the first gathering in 1977. Generations of students have a caught a vision for what it means to serve Jesus Christ with their entire lives, especially in their studies and vocations. And we continue to encourage students to take their Christian faith and live it out in the way they study, listen to music, play sports, engage with social media, and interact with their friends and family members.

  • Leadership Development: Our staff equip students to be leaders on campus, in clubs and athletics as well as in Bible studies and fellowship groups.

  • Athlete Ministry: We have campus staff who focus their outreach to student athletes, helping them to balance the challenges of academics, athletics, faith development, and a healthy social life.

  • Cross-Cultural Ministry: We have campus staff who focus on reaching out to international students, and all of our staff minister to students across racial and ethnic boundaries.

  • Mission Trips, Service Projects, Summer Opportunities: Our staff invite students to serve others, both locally and internationally, and to deepen their faith and leadership abilities through spring break trips and in-depth summer opportunities. Our experience has shown that when students are given opportunities to lead and to invest in others while in college, they are better equipped to translate their learning into their various roles after they graduate.
