Dan Celia: 25,000 Dow, Low Unemployment and Economic Boon Give Way to Red-Hot Job Market

PHILADELPHIA—In the first full week since the Dow Jones industrial average hit the historic 25,000 mark on Thursday, nationally syndicated host and biblical investing authority Dan Celia of Financial Issues Stewardship Ministries (FISM, www.financialissues.org) says all signs point to a market ready to flourish—for both workers and business owners.

“In 2017, 2.1 million jobs were added to this economy,” Celia said on a recent show. “That is pretty amazing. The unemployment rate stayed at 4.1 percent, and the labor participation rate was also about the same at 62.7 percent. But by all accounts, we are in a red-hot labor market. When you look at the National Association of Manufacturers and the National Federation of Independent Businesses—there are thousands of small businesses in that organization—they’re saying, ‘Look, we have a robust job market; our problem is finding people.’ And they would tell you that the labor market is tightening so there’s no abundance of jobs. That is cause for some concern, but it’s a good problem to have.”

Celia has also talked about the fact that job creators will benefit from the recent tax cuts and be able to pass on that good fortune to new hires.

“We’ve heard naysayers over the past several weeks spout that the new tax cuts are only for the wealthy,” Celia added. “If this is true, the majority of the job creators are getting a break and will be able to grow their businesses, which will positively impact the American worker. We are in a consumer-driven economy, dependent upon people spending money. Many are so blinded by their ideologies that they can’t see straight. They can’t see what will ultimately—and it is already happening—benefit all Americans at all spending capacities. When it’s all said and done, whether it’s next November or the next presidential election in 2020, it will be all about the economy.”

In leading FISM, Celia leads and focuses on economic news and biblical investing during his daily, three-hour show, “Financial Issues,” which airs on about 640 radio stations around the country and is also seen nationwide on NRBTV, reaching 45 million households.
