Upon 50th Anniversary of 1967 Six Day Middle East War, Southern Evangelical Seminary President, Dr. Richard Land Returns with Encouragement and Hope for the Region

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES, www.ses.edu) President and Evangelical leader Dr. Richard Land traveled to the Holy Land last month on a trip sponsored by the Philos Project,

(www.philosproject.org), which is committed “to promoting positive Christian engagement in the Middle East.”

Today, June 5, is the 50th anniversary date of the 1967 Six Day War and regarding the Israel trip, Land wrote an opinion piece featured today in the Christian Post and also commented, “It was both an honor and a privilege to visit Israel during such an important cultural and political moment in the history of the Holy Land.  The trip focused around the theme of the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Six Day War and how it transformed Israel and the entire Middle East.

“I have been to Israel many times and I must say this was the most informative and inspirational trip I have yet experienced. We met with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders from across the religious and political spectrum.

“The challenges to a lasting and just peace are extremely daunting. However, I was greatly encouraged to meet so many impressive leaders, both Israeli and Palestinian, who are truly dedicated to achieving that caliber of peace for themselves, their children and grandchildren, and for the entire region.

“I returned to America with a renewed sense of hope that while such a fair and just future for the entire region will be illusive and difficult, the leaders of the three great monotheistic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, are committed to the pursuit of such an honorable, good and worthy goal. However great the obstacles in their path may be, such dedication and commitment can’t help but improve the future of all the people caught up in the vicious undercurrents and dangerous riptides that whipsaw all those currently living in the Holy Land. I pray such efforts will answer the yearnings of millions of hearts for a more humane and just future.”

Land noted that President Trump’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia, Israel and Rome could well be a crucial step toward bringing peace to the Middle East.

For 25 years, SES has been educating Christians about how to best defend their beliefs and has announced the 24th annual National Conference on Christian Apologetics, where newsworthy topics will be explored by expert speakers. One of the largest events of its kind, the timely theme for 2017 is “Pursuing a Faith That Thinks.” The conference is set for Oct. 13-14, 2017, at Calvary Church in Charlotte, N.C.

The conference will welcome the nation’s top apologists, who will give the thousands in attendance new presentations on studies, research, history and insight into apologetics and other intellectual, scientific and religious fields. In addition to Land and SES co-founder Norman Geisler, confirmed conference speakers include Richard Howe, Greg Koukl, Jay Richards, Hugh Ross, Frank Turek and J. Warner Wallace, along with many others.
